An international meeting to promote women’s entrepreneurship and sustainable cooperation
Legacoop Emilia-Romagna hosted a delegation from the Kyrenia Women Cooperative of Cyprus (Girne Emekçi Kadınlar Kooperatifi), a women-led organization active in the island’s agri-food sector. The cooperative brings together women from diverse backgrounds with the goal of promoting economic empowerment, sustainable production, and gender equality in Cypriot society.
The study tour offered an important opportunity to explore the cooperative ecosystem of Emilia-Romagna through a series of visits and meetings with local enterprises.
The delegation met with several significant organizations in the fields of agri-food and social inclusion, including Eta Beta, Camilla, Roots, 4 Madonne Caseificio dell’Emilia, and Copaps.
During the meeting held at the headquarters of Legacoop Emilia-Romagna, the delegates had the chance to learn more about the association’s structure and governance and to engage with the Equal Opportunities Commission of Legacoop Nazionale on the challenges of achieving gender equality within the cooperative movement, as well as on the role of women in driving innovation and sustainable development.
The visit of the Kyrenia Women Cooperative contributed to establishing new channels of exchange and collaboration, encouraging the sharing of experiences, best practices, and strategies to strengthen women’s entrepreneurship on the international stage. The exchange also laid the groundwork for future European projects between Italian and Cypriot cooperatives.
