The cooperative model is increasingly proving to be the right response to the inequalities caused by a profit-driven development model that fails to adequately support the growth of people and territories.
For years, Legacoop Emilia-Romagna has been a point of reference in international cooperation, self-funding its initiatives, taking part in calls for projects, and working at the request of governments, universities from other countries, and NGOs.
Brazil, Cuba, Sahrawi, Mozambique, Tunisia, Senegal, and Ethiopia are just some of the countries where the Association has contributed to creating jobs, rights, territorial development, and livelihoods for young people and women.
In line with identified needs, projects are carried out directly by the Association or in partnership with member cooperatives, which provide technical expertise and professionals.
Numerous initiatives are also promoted and funded directly by cooperatives, which work on specific themes and geographical areas depending on needs and at the request of the public and the voluntary sector.
Drawing on the wealth of experience present across all Italian regions, in 2019 Legacoop Nazionale invested in Haliéus, a non-profit association registered in the AICS list of CSOs, dedicated to promoting the cooperative enterprise model internationally as a tool for the economic and social development of partner countries. One of the Association’s first commitments was to create a platform that has so far mapped 200 projects carried out in recent years around the world by the Legacoop system.
With this event, Legacoop Emilia-Romagna intends to share what has been achieved in the field of international cooperation, so that the journey may go ever further, hopefully alongside the regional public system and in the company of an increasing number of cooperators, to strengthen the awareness that work, rights, sustainability, and development represent the only viable future.
