Newsletter: more than two years of work on capacity-building around green transition for micro and small social economy enterprises

Methodology, tools and reports now online!

The European project SKI.F.T. brought together support organizations for the social economy from Denmark, Italy, and Poland, as well as two European networks actively promoting the sector.

For nearly two years, we worked closely with micro and small social economy enterprises in Denmark, Italy, Poland, and several other countries both within and outside the EU.

Through a survey involving 75 micro and small social economy enterprises, we explored their training needs and identified key areas for intervention to help these businesses contribute to sustainable development and the green transition.

Later, over 80 enterprises benefited from personalized consultancy provided by the project partners. This support enabled them to assess their environmental performance and identify projects to further improve their sustainability. The participating enterprises — including cooperatives, associations, and social businesses — came from Albania, Denmark, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Poland, Romania, Spain, Turkey, and Ukraine, and operated in various sectors such as food and retail, education and training, IT, social and healthcare services, circular economy, and research.

Finally, many of the enterprises that took part in the consultancy and coaching activities were able to access direct funding, receiving additional support from external experts to implement their green transition projects.

Another key aspect of the project was the opportunity for the beneficiary enterprises to actively participate in transnational events: webinars, seminars – both online and in person – and, most notably, the final conference in Strasbourg. These occasions offered valuable opportunities for visibility, networking, skills exchange, sharing of good practices, and discussions on EU policies supporting social economy and sustainability.
